Proudly serving Washington, D.C. and surrounding communities
The Washington DC Regional Police Pipe
Band is made up of law enforcement
professionals and others to include local, state, and federal agencies in the Washington
DC
area. Our current membership represent multiple law enforcement
agencies. The Washington
DC
area is defined as “that distance which one is willing to travel to the weekly
practice”. For most, that means Washington
DC
and the surrounding counties in Maryland
and Virginia.
The band was founded in 2003 to support the regional law enforcement community in the areas of ceremonies, entertainment, recreation, and assistance in times of need through fund raising activities. The band strives to add to law enforcement's positive image by representing it to the general public in a favorable light. The WDCRPPB is a registered 501)c) (3) charitable organization.
Membership is not limited to persons of Celtic descent, and is open to everyone meeting the other requirements regardless of race, color, national origin, ethnic origin, age, religion, sex, handicap, or marital status.
“This old barbaric music has magic in it. It transforms the Gael. It reawakens in the depths of their being, even in this century, impressions, moods, feelings inherited from a wild untamed ancestry for thousands of years, and thus gives them, more than strong wine, that strength of arm and that endurance of soul which makes them invincible.”
Michael MacDonagh ~ 1916
